spraypaint and glue on modeling clay

The main Idea of this work was just to create something that was flat on the back and then was three dimensional on another side.  There really isn't much meaning behind this piece. I just kind of started working, and the process too me to this. I wasn't going for any portrayal in particular, just a beautiful piece of art that fit the definition of a relief.

I started out being inspired by an artist who made things out of drywall, I kind of wanted to do something like that but didn't know what to use. I eliminated several materials for their properties. This one wasn't exactly what I was looking for but it was what I had. To cut out the shapes and to make sure the base square had clean edges I used a pallet knife. I spray painted all of my flowers with a gold spray paint that I absoloutly love the looks of. Then I just used a hot glue gun to glue eveything into place.

I started out with the idea of the side profile of a woman and then the flowers would be sort of a crown for her. I made the base layer and cut out the woman but the next class I didn't like it anymore so I decided to scrap the woman and just do the flowers instead.  Originally the entire chain of flowers was going to be different sizes and styles of the large ones but I didn't really have the time of patience for that, so I settles on just the little balls. That is what ended up happening, I spray painted the flowers gold so that they would stand out then superglued them on.
