The idea behind this work, was like the ones before to explore the relationship between humans and plants/flowers. For this I glued flowers down this person's head and back to be representational of hair. Many people put flowers in their hair in wedding day or for a special even. It makes one feel beautiful and more connected nature, I wanted to explore that idea of how we may not protect nature but it still makes us feel beautiful. I also have really always wanted to try this technique. I'd seen it around a lot and thought it looked really cool so I wanted to try it.

For the piece I used a graphite pencil to complete my undersketch, then I used construction paper dipped in glue to make the flowers. I wanted there to be an element of both 2D and 3D because I figured the 3D things would pop more so I used colored paper and the 3D to draw you attention first to the flowers then see what they are attached to. The 3D flowers also sort of cast a shadow upon her face which I didn't really notice until I saw the picture, but now that I see it I like that element.

I started by drawing the face underneath. I was planning for this to be my idea generation sheet, but I ended up really liking it and keeping that original sketch as my final product. That means I don't have an idea generation sketch, unless you really think about it and my idea generation sketch is visible in the final product. I did have a couple flowers that wouldn't stick so I just had to keep going and once the whole flower was glued down it it tended to stay.
