The main idea behind this work was to make something springy feeling. I chose to do daffodils because they are always sort of that cheery sign of spring. The bright yellow color and the little trumpets always brought me joy, always said "it's spring". I wanted to capture that in this print.

First I sketched out my design using a graphite pencil, then to make a more accurate representation of what it would actually look like I colored the parts I wanted to be black, black with sharpie. I then traced it onto the lino black using a graphite pencil and drew in on again using sharpie. Then using various different tools, I carved out the white space. I rolled ink onto the black then pressed the paper into the black to make the prints.

I pretty much knew exactly what I wanted to do for this as soon as she announced the project. So for my sketch, I looked at several pictures and drawing of daffodils and sketched out my idea. I then colored it in. I drew another  one also that was a compass, but I loved the springyness of of the daffodils so I went with that. Once I began to run prints I realized how you could see some of the taller cuts where you weren't supposed to, so I cleaned those up, but O realized no matter what there will be some that will be on there and as a matter of fact I began to like it.
