Mixed media on watercolor paper
To begin this piece of artwork we hd a piece of paper with a splotch of ink on it and we had to make it into a beautiful piece of art. The main idea of this work was to really incorporate the ink splotch into the art and make somebody who saw the rt think the ink was put there intentionally. I wanted to make a scene that was really weird and not super realistic since I feel like I often go for more realistic scenes at least and I wanted to switch it up a little bit.
I started the piece with graphite per usual, and sketched out the majority of the scene, then I went in with pen and outlined all my major figures and features. Then after that I planned on washing with watercolor to then go over more detailed areas with colored pencil, but after one stroke, I remembered that the pen I was using was not water resistant, so I ended up using marker instead and filling in some of the blanks with colored pencil.
To me the ink splotch looked like somebody or some creature flying through the air. At first it looked almost like a character from the peanuts. I was originially planning on having the art piece depicting a boy throwing his stuffed animal off a cliff, but as I was drawing more ideas came to mind and as I continued to draw more figures and ideas popped up. I chose to just go along with my mind which ended in a rather chaotic piece of art which nobody quite knows what's going on, but it was fun to make.
