5 Pinch Pot Project

This assignment focused on making 5 pinch pots that are either functional or not, but attaching then somehow to make a form of some kind. I started with a ball of clay that I rolled into a sphere. After that I cute the spheres in half and dug into the middle with my thumb to start the pinch pot. I continued to pinch until I had a rough half circle. I made another and then scored and added slip and attached them to make another sphere but this time it was hollow because it was an attachment of the two pinch pots. I then cut a hole in the top for the lid to fit on. After that I made small marks where the indents of the tomato would be and added clay around those lines by making small sections of clay and scoring and slipping them onto the body of the tomato and then smoothing them down so that they looked natural. I then made a little mini bowl shape for the lid and fit it flush to the body. I added the stem and dried leaves by scratching and scoring. I repeated this process for all three. I then decided where I was going to attach them. I drew a faint line and then cut holes there. I scratched and slipped those areas and attached the three tomatoes together into one form.

Overall I think the final project was very successful! I really like how the colors came out as well as how the pots blended together and really looked like three tomatoes. I was going to do one yellow, but I forgot and painted them all red. I struggled a lot with time on this project. It took me a really long time and a lot of callbacks to finish this so, I think next time making my work a little smaller so it takes less time would be helpful. But I got in done and I thing that I was comitted enough that I was able to come in and work on them in callbacks a few times per week.
