marker on drawing paper
The assignmet for this pievce was to create something that was circle central, I think that as soon as I heard that my mind wento circular mirror since I've been trying to buy one lately. I wanted to really incorporate colors into the art, and push my contrasting colors, I tried to experiment with pattern as well, as you see in the rainbow, amd some repetition of shapes. In this piece I also really was focusing on design versus drawing, I've been experimenting with where the line is and what the difference is.
I first used graphite pencil to sketch out all the shapes and details. Then I went in with marker on the brush side to add color, then went in on the pen side and outlined a few lines to define them, and make them stand out and separate themselves. After that, I cut out most of the white space so that the focus was really on the circle. I didn't want to add a back groud because I feared it would take the attention away from the central view which is supposed to be the mirror.
I started with just drawing the circle for the mirror. I then used a picture my friend sent me as a refarence for the person in the mirror. I used that photo for general shapes of the person, but also where they were positioned in the mirror and creases in the shirt. I then used some photos I just found on pinterest for inspiration regarding the mirror and the shelf set up. I used an amazon product of a globe as a refarence for that.
