Paper reflection

Yikes!

11"x 4"

Paper zand glue

The main idea of my artwork was just trying to work with paper to make a sculpture. Paper is not something that is easy to make do what you want, it seems simple, but it folds in places you don't want it to and doesn't fold in the places you do want it to. I was also trying to work with forming a word into a sculture. My word was yikes! I am not sure how much this really represents that, but that was the kind of guiding idea of the work.

To create this I used a lot of different materials, the end product was just paper and glue but there was pencil sketching, tracing a a business card, and erasing unneeded lines.

I started with just tracing a square business card a bunch of times to make several cube nets, which I then cut out and glued together. I was going to have one kind of topple ing over so that it looks more like a yikes, but it continued to actually fall over. Then I saw some pictures on the internet of paper sculptures and I was inspired by this really cool flower and I just decided to add that in there. The flower was made of different sized triangles folded and glued together.
