Oil Pastel and watercolor on watercolor paper

I think with this piece of art I just started with some random shapes and objects then from there I guess I just had a couple ideas and just built off of that. What I was trying to figure out with this painting is just the different ways I can use watercolor. I have added a couple things that now that I look at it they represent things, but usually I just kind of paint what I feel like and so it represents more of my unconscious mind since I don't plan out what I paint before I just go at it. I was also just trying to see how different backgrounds could change the feel of the things in the foreground.

I used oil pastel and watercolor, and I think I wanted to see how those two materials would contrast each other, because they are such different textures, and they resist each other. When I was finished I saw how different the two materials looked next to each other. The pastel is a more textured look and it's a dulled color at the same time as being brighter because of the density of it.  The watercolor is so almost translucent which looks so interesting next to the pastel.

I think I started with coloring the lines I already had, because I wanted the pre drawn lines to be the center or base of the piece of art because that was really what the assignment in class, and also I don't do a lot of abstract art so this was a way for me to let the ugly show! I then just kind of started drawing random things,  I started with an eye because that's kind of what I like drawing at the moment. Also, I draw faces a lot so I just started with what I was familiar with. Then I needed to fill the white space so I just added some random colors and things turned into them and some was just still random color. I had drawn a sun so I wanted to oppose that with the moon and that lead to the night sky, then I had some diagonal lines, but I didn't like those so I covered them with fall colors. I wanted to draw another tree for fall, but I didn't have enough room so I just added the colors.
