Marker and gel pen on watercolor paper

In my piece of art, I was trying to explore the properties of having no white space. I tried just doing a design with colored markers but that turned out to be more of a background than the main idea of the drawing. At first I didn't like adding more, I was happy with what I had, and I didn't want to add anything to cover it up, but once I started on the smaller details I began to enjoy it and I wanted to add as much detail as I could.

I used colored markers for the background, black outlines were for the shape for the lines of my zoomed shoe then I tried to stay with either a rainbow or a specific color scheme so as not to get any unintentional browns from mixing unwanted colors.  I didn't want any white space so in the missed areas I added some black. After that, I went back in and added small detail with black pen.

First I had the black outline of the zoomed shoe, I wasn't really sure what to do with it, but seeing that I had markers near me I decided to just start with that and see where it took me. i liked where I had landed so I photographed it and though I was done, but then I was told that it should have more detail. As I added details I began to have more ideas for things to add. I did look up a couple pictures of just things like the forest to solidify my  image. As I filled in more and more space, I felt like I didn't have much more to add so I started to repeat, but overall I'm pretty proud of this one.
