I've learned

Thanks to Carol P.

That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

That when you're in love, it shows.

That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my day!' Makes my day.

That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

That being kind is more important than being right.

That you should never say no to a gift from a child.

That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way.

That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.

That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.

That money doesn't buy class.

That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.

That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.

That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

That love, not time, heals all wounds.

That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.

That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

That life is tough, but I'm tougher.

That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.

That when you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

That I wish I could have told my Mum and Dad that I love them one more time before they passed away.

That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you're hooked for life.

That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.

That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

The World's Fastest Police Cars

Thanks to FKTV

The Dubai police force are the proud owners of a 'super

fleet,' a mass of high-end sports cars from all over the

world. Their latest addition to the fleet is the US$1.6 million

Bugatti Veyron, capable of doing 267 mph, from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds.

However, these vehicles are not used to chase criminals,

but instead as a PR mechanism.

Heralded as the most progressive of the Arab police forces, they

drive the fleet to various tourist attractions in Dubai as a means of

connecting with citizens and tourists (what a concept!)

Its also another way for Dubai to flaunt their enormous wealth.

GERMAN WONDERLAND - AMAZING

Thanks to Paul S.

Remember the two brothers, in Germany, who had a wonderful model railway that was something to see?

This is an update for their German Wonderland.

There have been little clips about this place for the past few years,

it is still not finished but is growing to that conclusion as they will soon run out of space.

A short review, it was started by two brothers as a place to show their hobby, it started growing by leaps & bounds.

Soon they were joined by other 'Model Railroad Clubs' and other craftsmen.

Some were electricians, model makers, Carpenters, computer programmers.

Their wives would stop by to see what they were doing and usually bring them a lunch.

One thing led to another. Three of the ladies had worked at a bakery.

Several visitors would ask if they had a snack bar.

The Idea was planted; some of the carpenters came and built a nice restaurant area for the bakery and a kitchen too. If the fresh Coffee smell didn't get you then the bakery definitely would.

This was about 5 years ago.

One of the Breweries came and furnished all of the tables and chairs, serving counter, etc..

Their latest finished area is the airport. Planes look like they are flying and landing.

Tropical Indoor Luxury Resort

Thanks to Francois P.

With sandy beaches, clear blue water and palm trees, this looks like a spectacular and luxurious sun-kissed resort. Holidaymakers can be seen relaxing in swimming shorts and bikinis. Even the occasional flamingo can be spotted. But not everything is as it seems at Tropical Islands.

Luxury: With sandy beaches, clear blue water and palm trees, this looks like a spectacular sun-kissed resort

The 'resort' is actually located on the site of a former Soviet military air base in Krausnick, Germany. Tropical Islands is inside a hangar built originally to house airships designed to haul long-distance cargo. And despite it looking like temperatures are through the roof - outside the giant hanger it is actually snowing.

As these incredible pictures show, the resort contains a beach, a lagoon, and water slide and adventure park. Guests can enjoy numerous restaurants, evening shows and can also relax in a sauna.

Indoor: Tropical Islands is located inside this giant hangar - with the actual weather a far cry from the conditions inside

A range of options are available for stays, from the basic to luxury. Accommodation includes quaint looking cottages and even beach tents. As well as flamingos, free-flying canaries also fly around the site. It is believed that the hall which Tropical Islands is located in is the biggest free-standing hall in the world.

Accommodation: A range of options are available for stays, from the basic to luxury. Accommodation includes cottages, pictured, and even beach tents

Simple: Guests can also stay in one of the beach tents

It has a maximum capacity of 6,000 visitors a day and in its first year attracted 975,000 visitors. As well as the thousands of visitors each day, approximately 500 people work at the site. Tropical Islands opened to members of the public in 2004. Incredibly, the hangar, which is 360 metres long, 210 metres wide and 107 metres high, is tall enough to enclose the Statue of Liberty.

1910 Ford

Thanks to Bryan W.

This has only been 105 years ago... Amazing!!!

Show this to your friends, children and/or grandchildren!

The year is 1910.

What a difference a century makes!

Here are some statistics for the Year 1910:

***********************************

The average life expectancy for men was 47 years.

Fuel for this car was sold in drug stores only.

Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.

Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads.

The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.

The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!

The average US wage in 1910 was 22 cents per hour.

The average US worker made between $200 and $400 per year.

A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year,

a dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.

More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME.

Ninety percent of all Doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!

Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press AND the government as 'substandard.'

Sugar cost four cents a pound.

Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.

Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.

Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.

There was no such thing as under arm deodorant or tooth paste.

Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason.

The five leading causes of death were:

1. Pneumonia and influenza

2, Tuberculosis

3. Diarrhea

4. Heart disease

5. Stroke

(NOTE: No Cancer)

The American flag had 45 stars.

The population of Las Vegas Nevada was only 30!

Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and iced tea hadn't been invented yet.

There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.

Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write and only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.

Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help.

There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A.!

Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years.
