X Department (Level): As True Watchers advance, they gain knowledge of the different departments of Watcher society. They choose one department at a time, until they have advanced to senior, and then choose a new department to gain the trainee benefits of. You may not take the same department multiple times. The departments available are listed below. Watchers must either be part of watcher society to advance as this race, or be attending MSF High. Watcher devices are tuned to a single Watcher's biometrics, and are replaced the next day if lost.
Operations:
Trainee: The character is granted a Watcher Operations Tablet, a 1-handed device that gives them a +4 bonus to all rolls made to access or utilize technological devices.
Worker: The character may use their tablet(1 hand action) to swap the initiative order of up to 4 of their allies. This ability doesn't swap the actual initiative rolls, only the order they go in.
Senior: Once per encounter, the character may use their tablet (1 hand action) to grant the character a +4 bonus to any non-attack skill roll.
Engineering:
Trainee: The character is granted a Watcher Diagnostics Tablet, a 1-handed device that gives a +4 bonus to repair rolls made to repair vehicles.
Worker: The character can create mahoutech batteries at 1 quarter their normal cost.
Senior: The character is granted a mahoutech battery recharger, which recharges up to 150 MP worth of used batteries per week.
Archival:
Trainee: The character is granted a Watcher Archival Tablet, a device that takes up 1 hand and grants a +4 to all History rolls made to reveal historical information.
Worker: The character gains a +3 bonus to remember anything they've experienced in the last year.
Senior: The character may use their Watcher Archival Tablet to record up to an hour of footage in their area each day. They may use their See Everything or Find Person ability on that footage as if they were there.
Scientific:
Trainee: The character is granted a Watcher Technological Scanner, a 1-handed device that grants a +4 bonus to rolls made to determine how a device works or any the source of any physical or magical phenomenon.
Worker: The character can use their Technological Scanner to create a blueprint without making a roll once a week.
Senior: The character is granted a Watcher Nanite Extruder, a small1 sized device that weighs 100 pounds and produces up to 100 dollars of components for creating devices a week.
Communications:
Trainee: The character is granted a Watcher Wide-band Scanner, a 1-handed device that grants a +4 to rolls made to detect quiet noises.
Worker: The character's See Everything ability can see through doors and walls.
Senior: The character can spend 10 MP to extend the range of their See Everything race group ability to encompass the fields of view of any cameras within a mile.
Command:
Trainee: The character is granted a Watcher Command Badge, which grants them a +2 bonus to all personality rolls made against other Watcher characters.
Worker: The character may spend their speak action to grant all of their allies within speaking range a +2 bonus to a single skill's rolls for their turn.
Senior: Any ally of this character who rolls an initiative roll less than this character's while within 50 feet of him get a +2 bonus to their initiative.
Security:
Trainee: The character is granted Watcher Security Armor, which is crafted and covers HENSTALF. At MSF High, it offers UL access to a single Watcher facet. It provides 3 armor and has a +0 speed rating.
Worker: The character is granted a Watcher Security Laser Pistol, which is a 1-handed weapon with unlimited ammo that deals 2+dAcc+1d6 damage, can be used with the F/P stances, and has a range of 30. It has a Speed rating of +1.
Senior: The character gains a +3 to all ranged accurate attacks.
Training:
Trainee: Once per day, the character may reduce the time of anyone's spell or ability learning by up to 25%.
Worker: The character may give up to 100 of their own XP per week to another character.
Senior: The character may spend their speak action to grant up to 2 dice of any skill to another character for the turn.
Intelligence:
Trainee: The character is granted a Watcher Stress Analyzer, which is a 1-handed device that they may use to gain a +4 bonus to rolls to determine if someone speaking is lying.
Worker: The character gains a +3 bonus to locate or analyze information.
Senior: The character gains a +4 bonus to hide or stay hidden.
Piloting:
Trainee: The character is granted a Watcher Evac suit, a crafted outfit that covers HENSTALF and has 2 dice of armor and +1 speed, as well as providing full protection from harsh climates or the vacuum of space.
Worker: The character gains a +3 to all rolls made to pilot a vehicle.
Senior: The character is granted a Watcher Personal Patrol Ship, a large4 size vehicle.
