As I have already started an introduction to this journal, I suppose I should just jump right in and begin with what started as my first day here at MSFHigh, as that seems like the proper thing to start off with in these kind of endeavors. As I have already recounted in detail the events that happened just before my miraculous resurrection at the school, I will say that with what I thought was to be my dying breathes I suspected at worst my life would simply be at an end. That my sisters would sing of my deeds in the halls of Sessrúmnir, record my passing and that would be it. At best I would awaken at Sessrúmnir myself, spiritually at least and join my ancestors there, somewhere in between I would be revived by the Light, and likely become a new member of The Host. I will will admit I spent several of my last few seconds both hoping that if that occurred, I would not return as one of the hidebound, and if I would actually recall what it meant to be the "me" from my previous life? Since none of these did occur it now seems pointless to overly dwell on a situations of what might have been, and instead focus on what is now.
I awoke, obviously in a strange bed, curious to exactly what had become of myself, as previously mentioned I knew that my time had come, it is a sense that Valkyries have, and while I had felt it often on others I comforted to the afterlife, I can say that the same feeling directed inward towards myself was... well let us just say it was disconcerting and leave it at that. My surprise then, at being, well whole, and apparently alive was something that caused me I will say, a bit of a pause. After all, cheating the afterlife is something that is possible, but hardly common. As I had said though, the bed was strange, but not uncomfortable, and a few glances around the room I was in revealed it had more in common with some kind of industrialized society then the space-faring one that was my own, or the less technologically advanced world I had met my supposed end on. The blankets adorning the bed seemed a bit, well like a child attempting to cater to what he thought my culture was like rather than as it was, but they had a certain charm to them nonetheless. the room itself seemed to possess both in furnishings and general structure, a form of bi-lateral symmetry bisecting two doorways, one open, and leading to washroom, and the other closed, and I would find, leading to the hallway outside the room. A desk nearby the bed I had awoken in was neatly arranged with writing utensils and other accoutrements suitable to what one would find in a student's desk. All the various materials had markings similar to those found on the bedsheets, again somewhat childish, but endearing at the same time. Most importantly on the desk was a simple brochure or pamphlet that was to act as an introduction to the school, the circumstances I had found myself in, and a brief overview of the situation. After a careful reading, and familiarization with the pamphlet I realized that either someone had gone to elaborate lengths in attempt to somehow fool me that this was all in fact, real, or everything was exactly what it claimed it was, nothing else. Also sitting on the desk was a card identifying myself as one of the students now starting at this school, and had on it what one would expect to find on such an identification. Glancing over at the mirror desk to my apparent own in the room, I spied a similar brochure and card on that desk, but the lack of a matching bed was curious. Instead of where a mirror of my own bed should have sat, there instead was a rack with a mighty set of armor upon it. investigating the card first, I noted that it indicated that the armor itself was a type of spirit infused suit known as a "Knightmor", with this one bearing the proud name of Salena Opal Clattersworth. A closer look at the suit itself revealed that it had the appearance of someone slightly breathing, as if at rest, and a slight magical glow emanated from the small gaps in the armor revealing the energy of the spirit within.
Having examined the room, and unwilling to disturb a sleeping individual, who no doubt was in a similar position as myself, I retired to the washroom and made use of it, before returning to the main room and garbing myself in clothes. The closet near the bed I had awoken in, as it still seems odd to call it "my bed" even now as I write this journal before retiring to it for the eve, had a suitable selection of clothing for my form, and draped over the desk's chair was my armor's tabard. A new spear, sword, shield and their accompanying gear also rested up against the chair or about the desk, and I did my best to gird myself with the equipment once I had made sure that it was more than decoration. The process of this finally awoke the Knightmor, as I will freely admit, in areas of stealth and silence I have rarely excelled. Doing my best to not appear threatening, a impressive feat considering I was now battle-clad and standing just a short distance away from the startled Knightmor. I instead attempted to speak to her in various tongues, a process I have since learned appears to be pointless, as everyone here either has somehow become fluent in my own language, or more likely there is an effect ensorcelled here at this school that facilitates communication by giving the appearance of native speech to others. In any event, my attempts to be non-threatening prevailed, and I told her about the brochure on the desk, giving her time to read it before I told her that I was going out to this place's hall-moot to break the night's hunger, and possibly ascertain what I could about this place. Apparently unable to verbally communicate, the Knightmor nodded in mutual consent, and we both exited the room into the hallway.
The scene in the hallway only seemed to reinforce what the brochure had stated, with a veritable menagire of races walking down the hallway. Making our way down to the dormitory hall's feasting room, we came to the realization that many others had already made the same choice, and almost as many were simply milling around, often with dazed looks like those of the warriors shortly after a bloody battle, but considering the way that most make it here is not overly dissimilar to my own, such gazes were warranted. After acquiring food, we moved over to one of the few remaining tables. Reflecting back on the throngs in the cafeteria now, it never ceases to phase me of the ability, of which I am not immune, for intelligent races to sort themselves into some kind of group, and the mobs in the cafeteria, while still confused and addled were already in their way in that old task of sorting. The table that I found myself with my knightmor companion included a diverse lot, seated around, and not including myself or my erstwhile roommate, were a dark elf, a demi-human of the simian persuasion, and most shocking to myself a deviling.
The group around the table seemed to be in somewhat a better state than most of those who were simply milling about, and the food itself was far better than most I had endured on the fields of battle, or while on campaign. The deviling of course singled me out by the color of my skin, and I did my best to simply avoid his hostile glares. Names were bantered about quickly and informally, and I picked up that the dark elf's name was Beylke Morozov, the demi-human's was Li Tiao, and the deviling's was Tersh Vossen. With introductions aside, we barely had time to converse amongst ourselves other than to confirm that the others had suffered some kind of death before awakening here, when there was an announcement that new students should come to the school's auditorium where further information would be given. I and many of the others in the feast hall, curious about our current situation, and hungry for more than just food quickly made our ways over to the main school hall and the great hall that server for the school's auditorium.
On the way to the assembly, I witnessed one of the peculiarities of the school's magical nature. A large member of the Redeemed, a Troll I believe was attempting, quite unsuccessfully to make use of the stairs to the next level of the school. A barrier which prevented him from even stepping foot on the stairs was obviously frustrating him, but between myself and the dark elf Beylke Morozov, we were able to convince him to stop and at least hear out whoever was to speak before making any further attempts.
Filing into the auditorium, the small group I was with found it already somewhat filled, so we broke up to find seats. After a short while, allowing the laggards to file in, a demi-human calling herself Kasumi, who was either the original or a clone of the historic figure either could be the case considering the nature of this odd place, took the stage. She went back over the original pamphlet, with a bit more detail at least. It was probably a good thing, because I believe I saw more than one of the more bored or perhaps socially stunted students actually eating their pamphlet. The talk went on long enough for more than a few to grow listless or bored, but was dismissed with enough time to allow for my now fellow students and my own personage to file off to our first class.
Entering into the first class of the day, I came to the realization that this form of instruction would differ considerably from my own education, which favored more experience and a mentor-student relationship. I admit i was somewhat curious to see how other races conducted their educational proceedings, and thought that I might be able to pick up some alternate viewpoints and theories for particular skills. Like the aforementioned Kasumi, the teacher for this class appeared to be either the real Alyanna Fenris, a replicant, or someone who had gone to great lengths to physically resemble her. Perhaps this school deals greatly in shape-shifters, but my own intuition says the people are too comfortable in their own skin for that to be so. Teacher Fenris went through the class explaining the very basic fundamentals of magic, as that was the subject for this class, the purpose of which was to allow the students from magic poor worlds or backgrounds the beginnings of magical understanding. Her explanations however were still informative, as she has some subtle differences in her practice of magic from my own understanding. Besides being the demonstrator for a fire spell, which revealed to me the level of loss of power I have suffered for coming here. The class received a small sample bag of Teacher Fenris' personal mercantile goods. I cannot say that allowing a person in position of authority, like a teacher, to sell to her students is a very moral idea, this school has different ways, and for the time I will accept the ways here. Most of the people that I had sat with at breakfast in the feasthall the school calls a cafeteria were present as well. The deviling was present, and used one of his sample goods to shine a focused beam of light at various class persons, eventually settling on my face for his antics. I restrained myself from going over and challenging him to a hólmgang, or similar challenge as I realize that it is simply in a Deviling's nature to spread strife, and through it change. Also I do believe it would have resulted in disciplinary actions taken against me for doing such on the first day. I have generally found that those who bring negative attention to themselves on their first day suffer more onerous punishments to dissuade both them and future malcontents from following a similar path. Doing my best therefore to ignore the Deviling's provocations, I noticed one member of our class was dressed somewhat different than the others, and the instructor seemed to treat her as if she already had some foreknowledge of the girl. A curious situation, as Teacher Fenris seemed to treat the young woman almost like an employee, a fact that i later found out to be confirmed. After her lecture and demonstrations were over, Teacher Fenris assigned us all some homework, just in time for the bell to ring for the next class.
Moving on to the Martial Arts area, I made certain to avoid entering into the men's lockers, as we had been warned of the consequences for doing so during the auditorium speech. Curiously though, several individuals seemed a bit confused on which one to go into, and others, mostly the males seemed to be contemplating entering into the women's no doubt in an effort to simply see what they could not woo.
Stepping into the martial arts arena, I found myself confronted with unusual person. He was a half elf by the name of Mr Hwang, and he seemed a most enthusiastic person. He was very encouraging to the whole class and again I found myself one of the individuals called upon to demonstrate their skills. He made mention of a Martial Arts Tournament that would be occurring soon in the town accompanying the school. the one young fellow, Li Tiao , expressed a great deal of interest in this tournament.
Once the class was dismissed we were allowed to go to lunch. The school cafeteria was just as chaotic as was the dorms. Again I found myself with the same group, and we quickly settled down to eating. The one deviling, Tersh Vossen, begin actually speaking to me now, but our conversation was cut short when I noticed that a familiar angel seemed to be harassing young woman. Recognizing Gadreel , who had apparently attracted a new group of cronies, was harassing a young legion girl. taking offense to his general Manor and presence, I confronted him in a very direct manner. I do wish he will sport that bald patch on his wing for some time, but from what I understand of this place it will only last a day. Although I received some help from a few of the group members and an unknown individual, I was more concerned with making sure Gadreel was suitably placed in the trash and the young girl was okay. she voiced her current distress about her situation. She was apparently unconnected to other Legion which left her in a state of confusion. Taking her and some of the group, we attempted to rectify the situation. Searching for other Legion we found one outside but she seemed to belong to an unsatisfactory group. Searching more we found another who supposedly was the most heinous of legion, or at least named after her. Again considering the nature of this place, I only assume that it is the real one and not the namesake. She however was nothing like the reputation given to her namesake. And we left the young girl in her hands.
The next two classes past much the same as the first ones, the first one was a history class with a vampire who had the name of Teacher Darkrider. Again I only can assume that he is the actual one and not a namesake. It was worth to know though that he had several young women in the class who apparently were stalking him in a humorous turn around , but he apparently did not find so funny. The next class afterwards with science with a man I do not know by the name of Dr. Riley. He did test the Dark Elf though and found her "intriguing". As for myself I realize I will have to do much studying if I was to progress in his class.
Heading to the next class I and Li Tiao literally ran into the one young bunny girl from the first class. Speaking with her revealed some things about Teacher Fenris, and that she owed for a considerable amount of money . to help alleviate this and to help stop another annoyance I bought a pack of gum from her. While stepping into the classroom I made sure to walk past the deviling , and using a piece of gum I have fixed it to the laser pointer that he was using to shine in my face. he spent most of the class removing the gum from his prized possession. The rest of us waited on the dark elf who was trying to fix our mechanical teacher only succeeding at the very end of the class in time for the bell to ring shortly thereafter.
Which class is over the small group I was with decided to leave the building, and then take a look at the surrounds. nearing the fountain outside the school we ran into a cat girl who apparently fllitched the deviling's wallet. he was not the only one as a very large ogre was chasing the cat girl. She apparently had also stole from him, and was inspired to quickly vacate the area. Upon realizing that he had lost his wallet the deviling raise the alarm and we begin chasing after the cat girl. I used my abilities to enhance an individual on Li Tiao , and he gave quicker chase then the rest of us. He and thereafter the rest of the group eventually made it to the town's mall, but the cat girl continued to allude us all. She went into the nearby park after having stolen using the deviling's funds, a water gun. In the park we were able to capture a cat king who was apparently playing some kind of game with the water guns in the style of king of the hill. The young cat girl however had retreated down a sewer access, and we left the cat King and the guarding of the sewer to the ogre. The once down in the sewers, we came to a set of tunnels, and we followed after the cat girl. Eventually we came to a large chamber, where they're resided a sleeping cat the size of a dragon. Carefully using the laser pointer it was distracted long enough for the group to slip by and make it to a doorway in the back of the chamber. There we found the cat girl who was building a cat bomb to turn anyone in contact with it into cat people. Capturing her we returned the wallet and the stolen merchandise to the deviling, in the dark elf with some assistance was able to stop the bomb. Most of the group proceeded back to school with the cat girl so she could be re enrolled and receive proper punishment. The deviling, however went back to the mall to see if he could regain his money by returning the stolen merchandise.
I believe I will stop now, and continue this later after I've had some time to to complete my homework and studies.
