Special Abilities:
Spells X MP(Convocations): Convokers can cast summon spells costing up to X MP.
Restrictions: Convokers may only summon copies of creatures with this ability.
Casting Cost: Convoker spells cost nothing to cast.
Spell Alterations: The duration of any summon spells cast doubles. When the summoned creature arrives, the convoker must defeat the summoned creature in a nonskilled personality roll or the creature is immediately infuriated with the convoker.
Casting Actions/Stat/Skill: Three talk actions. Convokers may use their Magic skill with either their Personality or Intelligence stat to overcome the casting difficulty of the spell.
Learning spells: Convokers create temporary magical duplicates of random monsters from the nearest inhabited planet. If they are well-versed in the area's fauna, they may attempt to create a specific creature, but this requires an additional Intelligence/Language roll with a difficulty equal to 3 plus 1 for every 10 MP the summoning spell costs. Failure of this roll, or a cast made without attempting to choose a specific creature, means that the creature chosen is randomly chosen by the GM when the spell is cast.
Spells X MP(Holdout): Convokers can cast spells of a single element costing up to X MP.
Restrictions: Convokers may only cast spells of a single element, chosen at first level, with this ability. They may not summon with this ability.
Casting Cost: Convoker holdout spells cost nothing to cast.
Spell Alterations: The range of any spells cast in this manner are halved.
Casting Actions/Stat/Skill: Two hand actions. Convokers may use their Magic skill with their Accuracy stat to overcome the casting difficulty of the spell.
Learning Spells: Convokers know all of the spells in their spellbook, and the time it takes the convoker to write the spell in their book is equal to the MP cost of the spell in minutes. They must take the time to write the spell down in their spellbook before they have truly learned it, though they may cast spells that are written down somewhere else as long as they can see them. If this is a textbook or teacher's blackboard, there is no penalty for casting, but if it is another spellbook, there is a -5 penalty to cast these spells as the mage must wade through the other writer's handwriting. Convokers need not keep their spellbooks on them, but if they can see the spell in their book, they get a +3 bonus to casting it. Remember that holding a spellbook up takes a hand action, and even if the spellbook's held up some other way, it takes a hand action to turn the page if the mage chooses to cast another spell. Convokers can also learn spells from scrolls scribed by other magic casters. These scrolls generally have a cost equal to the spell’s listed cost.
