Each student who attends MSF High is granted, free of charge, stay in one of the double-occupancy dorm rooms near the school. The layout of each room starts out as a simple and plain one, but can be expanded through expenditure of funds or reward tokens.
A starting room measures about 15'x15', with an adjoining bathroom measuring 10'x15' and a pair of 5'x5' closets. The entrance door is located in the middle of its wall, with the bathroom door in the middle of the opposite wall and the closets' sliding doors on the bathroom sides of the other two walls, about 4 feet away from the wall on either sides. Each room also features a pair of desks and beds, each confined to one side of the room. The room also features a pair of windows, mounted against the bathroom wall. Curiously, these windows allow access to the outside, as though the bathroom was not there. In reality, none of the room is. Rooms in the MSF High dorms do not occupy space within their building, rather the doors and windows are portals linked to pockets in subspace, much in the same manner as the locker/backspace room each student is granted, but with a more physical form that allows residence within. The amount of space available in these rooms is a result of the magical energies therein--with intense concentration or the expenditure of tokens of appreciation(generally accomplished by spending increasingly long amounts of free time meditating on the form of the dorm room or sliding tokens through the keyhole from either side of the door), the size of the room can be gradually expanded, even adding new rooms or floors. Some of the more introverted later-year students have managed to create elaborate towers or dungeons within their dorm rooms. A room that has been expanded to at least double its original size can be split into a pair of rooms if desired, via a request to VP Kasumi. Graduates of the school are allowed to take their doors with them if desired, as the subspace rooms can exist independent of the school itself. Windows inside the room at that point show a shimmering blue void unless they are magically linked to another portal.
When arriving in a dorm room, there is a large variety as to how the room is styled. Most rooms are a relatively simple theme, but some may have styling from a different time period or culture, sometimes split between the two halves of the room. Depending on the student's personality, their half of the room will have bed dressings, posters, and other decorations to make them comfortable, as well as a set of nonmagical casual clothing for the character. Characters with amnesia may even have clues to their previous life or their innermost desires reflected in their dorm decorations. The bathroom and desks respectively provide their own supply of toiletries and school supplies, though they will not provide more than what's required for cleaning and doing their schoolwork.
