Special Abilities:
Spells X MP(Excruciating): Warlocks can cast spells costing up to X MP.
Restrictions: None. Warlocks can learn and cast any spell, and can summon normally.
Casting Cost: None. Warlocks cast spells for free.
Spell Alterations: Usually none, save the HP cost of their spells. See Casting Actions for more info. A Warlock can choose to pay the full MP cost along with the half HP cost when casting a spell, if this is the case, the spell's damage dice are increased by a step.
Casting Actions/Stat/Skill: One hand action and one talk action. Warlocks may use their Science skill with either their Accuracy or Intelligence stat to overcome the casting difficulty of the spell. When a Warlock pays the MP cost of a spell, half of the spell's cost comes from their MP pool and half from their HP pool. If the warlock fails the spellcasting roll, they take another half the spell's MP cost in HP damage. If casting a spell brings a Warlock's HP to 0 or lower, the Warlock is consumed by the spell they have just cast and dies, though the spell is still cast.
Learning spells: Warlocks know all of the spells in their spellbook, and the time it takes the warlock to write the spell in their book is equal to the MP cost of the spell in minutes. They must take the time to write the spell down in their spellbook before they have truly learned it, though they may cast spells that are written down somewhere else as long as they can see them. If this is a textbook or teacher's blackboard, there is no penalty for casting, but if it is another spellbook, there is a -5 penalty to cast these spells as the warlock must wade through the other writer's handwriting, and they cannot pay the full MP cost for a spell they are reading from someone else's spellbook. Warlocks need not keep their spellbooks on them, but if they can see the spell in their book, they get a +3 bonus to casting it. Remember that holding a spellbook up takes a hand action, and even if the spellbook's held up some other way, it takes a hand action to turn the page if the warlock chooses to cast another spell. Warlocks can also learn spells from scrolls bought at magic stores located throughout the city. These scrolls have a cost equal to the spell’s listed cost.
Ambient Draw Building $X: Rather than using a normal power source such as an outlet, Warlocks can build mundane items that draw ambient magic from around them to power themselves. This doubles the price of the item for determining build cost unless the original price is $X or lower. These items function without power, but the GM will give them an operating time from 1-8 hours within a given area depending on the amount of magical radiation in the area. The more devices that function this way are present in an area, the faster they will run out of power until they are moved at least 1000 feet away or the magic has recharged(usually the next day)
