We have asked a range of questions to children over the last two years. We kept the questions the same this year but wanted a scaled response to allow us a little more insight into the children's own learning perspectives on curriculum and anything else we can do to improve their access, engagement and appreciation of the Curriculum. We also asked for specific information for how we could make the curriculum better.
Wellbeing Headlines - pending Year 5 responses
99.6% of children feel they learn at Little Green (1 said no)
100% of children think most children are showing good learning behaviours in class.
96.6% believe support is put in place when needed to ensure children behave appropriately.
Next steps:
92.7% of children feel safe. 17 responded that they did not feel safe. Analysis shows this is mostly Year 3 and 4. And these children respond positively to learning in class. We will target Year 3 and 4 children with more supportive questioning to identify why they may not feel safe/ or if they understood the question - one such response was shared becasie they worried about falling in the playground and getting a graze for instance.
Curriculum Headlines:
Positive outcomes:
Roughly 90% of children grade their learning as a 3 or above at Little Green with Over 50% grading 4 or above.
The majority of children continue to support a connected, collaborative, hands-on and real life challenging curriculum. (What else are they comparing this to?!)
65% of children would describe their learning as challenging (3/5 or more.)
Areas to dig deeper:
Where is the challenge missing in learning? Are children encouraged and enabled to challenge themselves - see challenge questions approach in slides developments as one outcome of this feedback.
Next steps:
Do see Individual Subject Impact pages for specific feedback and greater digging for each subject (In development.) Overall, we are pleased with the general appreciation of our approaches and will dig a little deeper to explore what else we can do as a mainstream school to make learning even more engaging and challenging for the harder to reach children including considering their own ideas and solutions.
