POSITIVE MINDS - Learning about Mental Health with Watford Football Club Community Sports & Education Trust. In the Autumn Term, all of Year 6 were joined by three course facilitators from Watford FC's Community Education team.
The Trust explains: 'Positive Minds is the Trust’s mental health and well-being programme that delivers a range of provisions to support; people experiencing poor mental health, the individuals who engage with people with poor mental health, as well as promoting awareness of mental health and useful coping strategies. Positive Minds education offers "A ten-week award winning well being programme delivered in primary schools across Hertfordshire to Year 6 pupils. The programme combines classroom and practical-based activities to engage and increase the awareness around the topic of mental health. The programme covers 10 different topics:· Introduction to Mental Health· Coping Strategies and Resilience· Support Network and Positive Relationships· Internet Safety & Social Media· Body Image· Emotional Literacy & Emotional regulation· 5 Ways to Wellbeing & Lifestyle· Body, Mind and Resilience· Growth Mindset & Transitioning· Talking about Mental Health.

Our children were incredibly welcoming to the WFC team and completely engaged with the process, enjoying much about the lessons content and delivery. Aside from the obvious fun the children were having with their learning, as Pastoral Lead, Mrs Rowland was keen to understand the impact that the course had on the children's own understanding of their MH and well being by the end. Below is a one example from our pupil voice survey, of how valuable the children found the course to be, with over 86% finding it helpful.
