Researching Science

INTENT

At Little Green Junior school we want to provide a broad and interesting Science curriculum, which sparks our pupils’ curiosity and encourages them to ask questions about the world around them. Science has been responsible for improving our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity; we want our pupils to aspire to be the next generation of scientists that make the world a better place. Through our teaching of the science curriculum we would like our pupils to:

- Be passionate and share their enjoyment of the subject with those around them.

- Work collaboratively with their peers to develop their understanding of scientific ideas.

- Be resilient and look for solutions when challenges arise or investigations don’t yield results.

- Reflect on their learning and apply it to future lessons and investigations.

- Develop scientific knowledge through lessons, investigations and enrichment activities.

 - Develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them answer scientific questions about the world around them.

- Develop and use a range of scientific skills including questioning, researching and observing.

 - Have a broad vocabulary of scientific language that they can use to share and explain their discoveries.
