Intent for 2022/23 - Actions identified from 21/22 Impact Review
Key Areas for Development:
Develop use of Sketchbooks. In the National Curriculum it states: Pupils should be taught: to create sketch books to record their observations and use them to review and revisit ideas. Therefore sketchbooks should record the thinking process, progression and show the journey that the child has taken in art.
Develop and monitor assessment in art.
Curriculum Provision including GD/SEN/PPG
Establish Links to local community e.g Secondary Schools and ensure links with other subjects.
Implementation
Subject leader to attend the Accessart Sketchbook meet-ups once a term. It is an online meeting where teachers share ideas and good practice. Also to attend the updated sketchbook course and feedback to staff about the intent and expectations of sketchbooks.
A new progression map and way of assessing foundation subjects was introduced in September 2023. Therefore the subject leader will monitor the different year groups to assess the new engaging curriculum and progression map.
Pupil voice and learning walks will enable the subject leader to see the current curriculum provision given in each class. Research will then be conducted to see where SEN children could be supported. The subject leader will then create a list of ideas or teachers.
Create a connection with local secondary schools to see if they would like to visit to support sketchbook development and drawing skills. Research local artists and make links with local community. The subject leader will attend a digital art course run by Access Art and feedback to staff.
Science Week beginning 10th March will have links with art.
