In the Autumn term, Years 5 and 6 both introduced notation lessons looking at the musical stave.
I also completed an NPQ formative assessment task (see above) involving modelling to teachers in Y5 and Y6 how to teach these lessons, as this is new to lots of the teachers.

Jenny Finch from Rickmansworth Secondary School has come to help Year 5 with three composing lessons, concentrating on different percussion instruments.
Year 6 have had a half term of learning how to compose using bandlab.
This is a new program that we only trialled for a few lessons within Y5 and Y6 last year, thanks to Mr Tompkins visiting.
The children have been busy building texture through using melody, a bass line and a beat within 16 bars.
It has been organised that recorder lessons in Year 3 will be rolled out within the first two weeks of Spring 2!
