(DRAFT)
The initial intention is for every child in the school to have access to a device whenever their teacher would like them to, or whenever they decide that it will enhance their learning.
There are various options here:
Funds are raised by the school/FOLG to purchase devices.
We ask parents to purchase (possibly through existing laptop purchase schemes).
Introduce an (optional) scheme where parents contribute to a rolling programme of school device purchases - in return, we guarantee availabilty of a device for their child to use in school.
We would also need to factor in staff support to ensure that newly acquired resources don't go to waste (ie, aren't used).
Access to a device for each child would be a huge 'enabler' for teachers to widen the scope and ambition of their lessons and for learners to be able to make independent choices, personalise their learning and to experience 'Computing' in context.
Reduction in printed resources needed.
Even easier to discretely differentiate.
