Intent for 2022/23 - Actions identified from 21/22 Impact Review
Support Intent
Develop a more accurate system of formative assessment in order to measure what the chn remember.
Implementation
Y4 Trial: Google form used at end of each lesson (started at beginning of Spring 1 term) with 3 questions relating to the learning that has just taken place, and 2 questions relating to previous learning.
Questions repeated if a misunderstanding has been identified. (with time made in lesson to address misconceptions)
Impact (so far...)
Misconceptions very easy to identify with a glance at the associated spreadsheet.
Much easier to target support.
SEN/GD Intent
Use credible formative assessment (see above) to support children to succeed or exceed based on data. (whilst being mindful of known needs).
Implementation
Many neuro-diverse learners find the programming elements of the CS curriculum quite straight forward so the issue is likely to be how do we extend these learners.
That aside, the approach so far is:
support with logging in where necessary
Y6 setting up Y3 Google Club to support those learners that need more practise.
Learners that need support identified through 'exit ticket' and support given accordingly, rather than assuming that an child with a SEN needs support. (`not a whole school approach, yet)
Challenge (support to exceed)
This is still an area that is being researched. In Y4, we have a system in place that quickly identifies those children who need to challenged, but I am unclear how this happens in the rest of the school.
Impact
Online Safety Intent
Raise the profile of being safer online.
Implementation
Being safer online regularly appears throughout the NCCE scheme, however there is a significant overlap with PSHE. The plan was that some content would be delivered through Explorer afternoons but this needs to be reviewed in terms of coverage and impact.
Google have an e-safer scheme which we are trialling in Explorers.
Impact
Teacher/NCCE scheme Intent
Ensure that NCCE scheme content is deliverable, and that teachers have the confidence to adapt the scheme to fit in with the wider curriculum.
Implementation
The NCCE scheme is spit into 6 topics per year group. I have recommended that 3 of them are taught discretely, and the other 3 get adapted to be delivered concurrently through the wider curriculum (which saves time, and gives the Computing skill being taught more purpose.
