Areas for Development
Curriculum review - Which areas 'must', 'should' or 'could' be taught?
As MFL comes out of Explorer afternoons and into whole class teaching times, support to be put in place for teachers who have less experience of the Language Angels website and teaching languages.
As subject leader, continue to provide overviews of the new French topics and suggested activities for Years 5 and 6.
If possible, run training with staff to get the most out of the Language Angels website, to help with assessment across Key Stage Two.
Assessment Data Headlines
Due to the nature of MFL and lessons being taught by non-specialist teachers, it has been tricky for most to assess progress. The action for next year is to slim down the MFL curriculum to make it more manageable and easier to assess.
Surveys Headlines
The survey results showed that 1 child said that MFL was their favourite subject. 59 children said it was their least favourite subject. This is a shame. MFL seems to be enjoyed further down the school but not necessarily a favourite subject. The action for next year is to raise the subject's profile within the school. Next year will be the first year where the whole school are doing French so there are opportunities for collaborative learning.
