Learning EXPERIenCE

Students showcased their architecture and design skills at a CTE Rodeo event, in front of over 100 different local companies and professionals hiring in the workforce. They were tasked with designing a small scale restaurant. Each student had the opportunity to share their designs on the promethean board, so employers could walk by and observe. This project and event helps connect future employers with the future workforce. It gives each student the chance to represent themselves in a professional manner, and get the experience of a fast paced and realistic work environment. Many students had the opportunity to have in person interviews at this event as well.

What the students like about this experience:

"I went from not knowing what I was going to do after high school to completely set on what my future was." - Ian Johnson (Quality Character)

"I familiarized myself with the building regulations of commercial restaurants, researched examples of small diner floor plans, as well as different designs and themes I wanted to incorporate in my diner." - Paige Bell

What the teacher likes about this experience:

"My seniors got the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of future employers. They were approached and asked questions, and had the opportunity to advocate for themselves. They gave out their resume, and asked about internships. It was a great event to get them out of their comfort zone, while preparing them for the future."

Thank you to the innovators that helped make this experience possible:
