Learning EXPERIenCE

Students were challenged to design a mini golf course for the students to use in Physical Education Classes at Ward Elementary. Third grade students designed and built models of the golf course using area and perimeter,  and sent the plans to be constructed by the Henrico Technical Center. Students practiced their golf skills in PE and  designed plans to get the perfect hole in one shot.

What students like about this experience:

"Being #LifeReady helps you learn skills as a kid that other people already know how to do.  That way when you’re an adult, you won’t have to ask someone else to do it for you.  You already know how to do things "

What the teacher likes about this experience:

“Putting Our Way Through Area and Perimeter” empowered the students to apply their collaboration and creative thinking skills to design a life-sized putt-putt golf course. The students were able to apply their knowledge of measurement to make a connection to real world building and engineering."
