This episode utilized a variety of Eastern European locations, including Slovakia and the Czech Republic to stand in for wartime Germany.
Early scenes with the POWs being transported were shot at Doksany Monastery.

Pernstejn Castle in South Moravia, Czech Republic was the site of the rest of the castle shots, including the courtyard, towers and interiors.

The actual interior of the castle was used as well, where Indy plans his escape with Charles De Gaulle (Herve Pauchon).
Filming was done atop the actual castle tower, although cliffs and water were added with a matte painting to views looking down.
