The episode begins by showing a brief montage of Indy's childhood, filmed in Wilmington, NC. As Indy and family leave for their around-the-world adventure, their first stop takes them to Egypt, which was filmed mostly in Almeria, Spain.
Indy & friends play baseball on Cottage Lane at S. 4th Street in Wilmington, NC.
The scene of Indy & friends releasing Indiana into the air in a balloon was filmed across Burnt Mill Creek from Flytrap Downs, a rugby pitch off Chestnut Street in Wilmington. A crane was used to lift the "balloon" into the air. This information comes from Kenny Gasperson, the actor who played Indy's red-haired friend in the scene.

The scene where Indy and friends go down railroad tracks on a homemade train car was filmed on an abandoned (and now removed) stretch of tracks north of Market Street (thanks to Kenny Gasperson).

This was shot from across the street from Indy's house at 111 South 4th Street.
The classroom scenes were filmed at the Tileston School at 412 Ann Street in Wilmington.

The shot of them leaving the driveway was between 111 & 117 on South 4th Street.
Indy's arrival in Cairo was actually filmed at the port town of Lamu, Kenya. This same location would be used again in the Oganga episodes (thanks to Bridget!).
The cafe scene and the exterior of Henry Sr.'s study were also filmed in Lamu.
The lecture room was filmed in an historic building now housing Burana Almeria in Almeria, Spain (thanks to Dany). This is right down the street from the Almeria School of Arts where the Sultan of Hatay's palace was shot for Last Crusade.

The Egypt dig site was filmed just off Highway A-92 about 5 miles south of Tabernas, Spain (thanks to Dany). This was cleverly intercut with pieces of footage from the Tanis dig site in Raiders. When Dany visited this site in 2009 the bridge seen in the show was still standing.
