Before the death knights were risen to serve, and before the illidari formed towards using demonic magics against the Legion, this warlock study is focused on being within melee combat as much as possible. This, of course, allows them to harden their bodies further and deal more damage with specialized claws.
2nd-level Study of Hatred feature
Your area of study has given you additional spells to utilize against those foolish enough to be your foes. At the following Warlock levels, you gain the following spells, and they do not count towards your maximum number of Warlock spells known.
Warlock Level - Spells
2nd - Arcane Shield, Compelled Duel
4th - Blur, Branding Smite
6th - Blink, Antagonize
8th - Shadow of Moil, Dimensional Door
10th - Banishing Smite, Far Step
Due to the Study of Hatred requiring a concentrated effort towards empowering oneself, a warlock cannot muster the energy to give form to their demons. The Grimoire of Servitude cannot be used.
2nd-level Study of Hatred feature
As a bonus action, you can expend a soul shard to undergo a partial demonic transformation for a number of minutes equal to your proficiency bonus. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious. You can also end the transformation on your turn as a bonus action.
You can use this feature number of times equal to Demons Known value times per day.
While transformed, you gain the following benefits:
Demonic Strikes; You can use your Intelligence modifier for attack and damage rolls with unarmed attacks. Your unarmed strikes deal 1d6 necrotic damage. The damage is increased by 1d6 at 5th, 11th, and 17th level. These strikes count as melee weapon attacks for the purpose of spells, class features, and other effects.
Fel Ward; You gain a ward with hit points equal to your warlock level + twice your Intelligence modifier. Whenever you take damage, the ward takes the damage instead. If this damage reduces the ward to 0 hit points, you take any remaining damage. While the Fel Ward has 0 hit points, it can't absorb damage, but its magic remains. You can restore it to full by expending a soul shard as an action.
Empowered Defense; You're armor is torn off, and your AC becomes 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Intelligence modifier. In addition, you gain temporary hit points equal to three times your Fel Study spell slot level.
2nd-level Study of Hatred feature
As a bonus action after hitting a creature with Demonic Strike, you can expend a soul shard to curse the target.
The cursed creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = your warlock spell save DC) or have disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures other than you for 1 minute.
If the cursed target hits an ally, you can use your reaction to deal 1d4 necrotic damage and generate a soul shard. This damage increases by 1d4 at 5th (2d4), 11th (3d4) and 17th (4d4) levels.
2nd-level Study of Hatred feature
You gain the ability to sense the presence of demons due to your sensitivity to demonic energies. As an action, you can open your awareness to magically detect demons. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any demon within 60 feet of you that isn't behind total cover and that isn't protected from divination magic. This sense doesn't tell you anything about a creature's capabilities or identity.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
6th-level Study of Hatred feature
Beginning at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
6th-level Study of Hatred feature
When an ally within 60 feet of you takes damage, you can use your reaction to redirect half that damage to yourself.
Additionally, you can expend a health stone as a bonus action.
10th-level Study of Hatred feature
You gain a pool of 6 fury points, replenished after a long rest. Spend points for the following effects:
Before making an attack, spend 1 point as a bonus action to gain advantage on the roll.
When forced to make a saving throw, spend 1 point as a reaction to gain advantage on the roll.
14th-level Study of Hatred feature
Your Fel Ward’s hit points increase to twice your warlock level + twice your Intelligence modifier.
While transformed, you gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magical attacks, as well as resistance to fire and necrotic damage.
18th-level Study of Hatred feature
You fully embrace your demonic nature. You gain two or more quirks from the Metamorphosis Quirks table from Study of Demonology and the following abilities:
You sprout wings that grant you a fly speed equal to your movement speed. You can hide or unhide these wings as a bonus action.
You do not age, and you do not need to eat, drink, or sleep.
Demons with an intelligence of 3 or lower will not attack you unless you attack them.
Additionally, you can activate Partial Metamorphosis without expending a soul shard or bonus action.
