Marksmanship favor the use of weapons that are at their deadliest at great range. Many marksmanship hunters neglect the company of a beast, instead focusing solely on their own prowess. They shroud themselves from their target and deliver their shots to unaware quarries.
Beginning when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you can evoke arcane energy in your attacks. When you take the Attack action, you may choose to deliver your ranged weapon attacks against your marked creature as Arcane Shots. Until the end of your turn, your ranged attacks against your marked target gains the following benefits:
Your attacks ignores half and three-quarters cover.
On each hit, the weapon deals additional force damage to the target equal to 2 + half your hunter level.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier. You regain all spent uses after finishing a short or long rest.
Also at 3rd level, you can choose to not tame a beast and instead focus on your own prowess. When you do not have the loyalty of a beast companion, you can use your bonus action to give your next weapon attack advantage.
Starting at 5th level, when you hit a target with an attack that would cause it to make a Constitution saving throw to maintain concentration, you can expend a focus die and add it to the difficulty class. You must do so before the target makes the save.
Also at 5th level, when you do not have the loyalty of a beast companion you gain the Extra Attack feature, and can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the attack action on your turn.
Beginning at 7th level, you can see up to 1 mile away with no difficulty, able to discern even fine details as though looking at something no more than 100 feet away from you.
In addition, attacking at long range doesn't impose disadvantage on your ranged weapon attack rolls.
Upon reaching 11th level, you gain one of the following features of your choice.
Chimaera Shot : Once on each of your turns, when you make a ranged weapon attack, you can make another attack with the same weapon against a different creature that is within 5 feet of the original target and within range of your weapon. If used with your Lone Wolf feature, both attacks have advantage.
Piercing Shot : Once on each of your turns, when you make a ranged weapon attack against a creature, you can make the attack pierce through multiple creatures. Make an attack roll with disadvantage against each creature in a line directly behind the original target, until you miss, hit an object, or reach the normal range of your weapon, whichever comes first.
The piercing attacks do not benefit from effects that give you advantage, or cancel disadvantage. However, if used with your Lone Wolf: Aimed Attack feature, the attacks are no longer made with disadvantage.
At 15th level, when you roll for initiative and have no uses of arcane shot remaining, you regain one use.
