Speculation and questions
This bayonet is very similar to the recorded New York Remington Alteration except it has a long style Collins hilt. Remington made two separate deliveries and was having trouble acquiring bayonets from Collins to fulfill their contract. Could Collins have used two different types of hilts for this alteration? I believe this may be a Type II New York Alteration.
