Information about this bayonet
This bayonet is not maker marked but it is believed to have been made by the Ames manufacturing Company. The 122 millimeter cast brass hilt has a feathered or scaled pattern as typically found on Ames produced bayonets such as the Model 1873 Winchester and Colt Lightning bayonets. There is a forward swept round finial on the bottom of the guard and no finial on top of the muzzle ring. The muzzle ring diameter is 18.5 millimeters. There is no sight notch in the muzzle ring. There is no blade rivet in the center of the cross guard.
