Information about this scabbard
The only observed example of this scabbard was found on a Confederate Fayetteville Arsenal bayonet and appears to be original or at least long term service to the bayonet.
This scabbard is made with a black leather body and sheet brass mounts. There are parallel lines pressed into the leather front and back that run the length of the scabbard's leather body. The overall length is approximately 565 millimeters long.
The leather body appears to have been contoured to the shape of the curved blade.
The frog stud is a flat heavy shield shaped disk 13.6 millimeters wide and 23.0 millimeters long. It has a 6 millimeter brass extension at the top of the shield that has been soldered to the top mound.
The throat edges were cut at the corners and crudely bent inwardly and the throat opening is slightly tapered in the shape of a blade.
Both brass mounts show a rather crude seam on the upper edges where the sheet brass was brought together and soldered. It appears that both throat and tip mounts were glued to the leather bodies although there is a single rivet on the back side of the throat mount. The throat mount is 60 millimeters long and 44 millimeters wide.
The tip mount is 73 millimeters long and approximately 35 millimeters wide at the leather edge. An oval cap is brazed to the end of the tip mount. There are some holes punched into the brass edge of the tip mount next to the leather body. Certainly an attempt to fasten the mount to the leather but they may have occurred after production.

Speculation and questions
Only one of these scabbards have been observed at this point. So speculation is about all we have to go on other then the observations recorded on this scabbard.
