The Georgia State Arsenal & Armory was located in Milledgeville, Georgia. The State Penitentiary was converted to an arsenal early during the US Civil War and produced arms and bayonets. It served the State and the Confederacy well until put to the tourch by Wilson's raiders in 1865.
At least two types of bayonets were produced. An earlier form has an all brass hilt, while the later style has an iron hilt with wooden scales. Both have blades of the pattern found on the Model 1855 Rifle Bayonet.
