This scabbard type is made out of steel from end to end. The body is curved to match the curvature of the blade.
This scabbard type most likely dates to the late 1870's through the 1880's.
Scabbard Type Variations
This scabbard is typically found on what is believed to be Ames Manufacturing Company produced bayonets. Such as the feathered gripped Remington Rolling Block Bayonets and the Winchester Model 1876 Hawaiian Citizen Guards Bayonet.
