Bayonet Identification
The 1" guide slot is by far the most common version, resulting in many listed examples. To narrow the search further the MRD (Muzzle Ring Diameter) and OAL (Over All Length) will be introduced into the search.
MRD Group
Muzzle ring inside diameters range from 16 to 26 millimeters but there are concentrated in ranges due to the various calibers used during the period. Therefore, four MRD Groups have been created to narrow this search.
Large and Small OAL
There are two distinct blade sizes with early production tending to be much larger than later production. Yes there are always exceptions. For simplicity I have grouped OAL into Large and Small groups based on this difference.
MRD Group 1 - (20 millimeters or less)
MRD Group 2 - (20.1 to 21 millimeters)
MRD Group 3 - (21.1 to 22 millimeters)
MRD Group 4 - (Greater than 22 millimeters)
