• Palm squirrel found naturally in India and Srilanka.
• Their back is grizeled, grey – brown coloured with three conspicuous white stripes.
• White stripes run from head to tail.
• Two outer stripes which run from foreleg to hinds only.
• Eat mainly nuts and fruits.
• They are fairy vocal with a cry that sounds like ‘Chip-chop-chip’ when danger is present.
• They are opportunists in urban areas and can be easily domesticated.
• Around nostril, they have cheek pouches in which it carries food to store in their burrows.
• Active during mating season, protect food source from other animals.
