Rabbit : Scapula

Pectoral girdle is remarkable for the reduction and loss of some bones.

On each side it consists of only two bones, namely coraco – scapula and clavicle.

Coraco – scapula is thin and flat, whereas clavicle is slender and rod – like.

Coraco – scapula is formed by the fusion of large scapula and reduced coracoid.

Coracoid is represented by a coracoid process.

Apically, coraco – scapula bears the glenoid cavity.

At the basal edge of scapula, is a thin cartilage known as supra – scapular cartilage.

Scapular spine terminates in acromion process which in turn gives off a metacromion process.
