Rabbit : Scapula
• Pectoral girdle is remarkable for the reduction and loss of some bones.
• On each side it consists of only two bones, namely coraco – scapula and clavicle.
• Coraco – scapula is thin and flat, whereas clavicle is slender and rod – like.
• Coraco – scapula is formed by the fusion of large scapula and reduced coracoid.
• Coracoid is represented by a coracoid process.
• Apically, coraco – scapula bears the glenoid cavity.
• At the basal edge of scapula, is a thin cartilage known as supra – scapular cartilage.
• Scapular spine terminates in acromion process which in turn gives off a metacromion process.
