Body is sub - cylindrical.

Buccal ring is surrounded by buccal frill.

It sucks blood from man and cattle.

Anterior and posterior suckers are prehensile – used to hold on tree branches.

Move very fast on land.

Running the whole length of the body there may be narrow mid - dorsal stripes and 2 lateral stripes.

Clitellum is indicated by a greyish band between 10th and 13th segments.
