Body is elongated with dark bands on yellowish background.

Gill slits are 5 pairs and lateral (Pleurotrematous).

Distinct labial folds are present at the angles of mouth.

Caudal fin is heterocercal.

Ovoviviparous.

Eye covered by nictitating membrane.
