Body is elongated, divisible head, thorax and abdomen.

Carapace is absent.

Head bears paired antennules, antennae and sessile compound eyes.

Cephalic appendages seen around the mouth are modified as sucking organs.

The last abdominal segment is large and shield like and it bears a pair of broad swimming legs.

It is a protandric hermaphrodite.
