• Edible bony fish.

• Etroplus commonly known as ‘pearl spot’.

• Laterally compressed and light green coloured body.

• Body is marked by 6-8 vertical bands or stripes and few irregular spots.

• Body is covered by overlapping cycloid and ctenoid scales.

• It is an omnivore.

• Mouth is small and eyes are large.

• Caudal fin is slightly emarginate.

• Cultured in brackish water and fresh water.
