Etroplus commonly known as ‘pearl spot’.

Laterally compressed and light green coloured body.

Body is marked by 6-8 vertical bands or stripes and few irregular spots.

Body is covered by overlapping cycloid and ctenoid scales.

It is an omnivore.

Mouth is small and eyes are large.

Caudal fin is slightly emarginate.

Cultured in brackish water and fresh water.
