Eupagurus is commonly called ‘Hermit Crab’ – Marine crustacean.

Always lives in inside empty shell of gastropod.

Keeps sea – anemone on the shell. Hermit crab and sea – anemone exhibit ‘Facultative mutualism’.

Body consists of 2 regions – Cephalothorax and abdomen.

Cephalothorax is covered by carapace.

A pair of stalked compound eye, a pair of antennules, a pair of antenna and 5 pairs of thoracic legs among which 1st pair of thoracic leg is chelate.

Abdominal appendages of right sides are absent.

The uropod is hook like and used for attachment to the shell.
