• Body is long, lean, twig like or insect like and divisible into Head, Thorax and Abdomen.

• Head is small, with filiform antennae, small compound eyes and chewing and prognathous type of mouth parts.

• Legs are long and slender and wings are highly reduced.

• It exhibit concealing protective mimicry.

• Stick like body and matching colouration merge with the background and helps it to escape from the notice of enemies.

• Sexes are separate.

• Development is indirect and metamorphosis is incomplete.
