Stick insect, commonly called as ‘Walking stick’ is an herbivorous nocturnal insect.

Body is long, lean, twig like or insect like and divisible into Head, Thorax and Abdomen.

Head is small, with filiform antennae, small compound eyes and chewing and prognathous type of mouth parts.

Legs are long and slender and wings are highly reduced.

It exhibit concealing protective mimicry.

Stick like body and matching colouration merge with the background and helps it to escape from the notice of enemies.

Sexes are separate.

Development is indirect and metamorphosis is incomplete.
