Pentagonal, strongly flattened and radially symmetrical.

Body consists of a central disc and 5 symmetrically arranged radial arms.

Predatory carnivore.

Well developed upper and lower surface.

Mouth contains soft opening called peristomial membrane.

Dormal branchiae, peristomial gills, genital bursa and respiratory tree present.

Tube feet for locomotion.

Sexes are separate.

Arms are bordered by the marginal spines.
