Body wall is thick and leathery, without spines, arms, ambulacral grooves and pedicellariae.

Tube feet (locomotion) absent.

Numerous warty/papillate projections seen.

Respiration through cloacal respiratory tree.

Self defense by autotomy and evisceration.

Expulsion of toxic filaments known as holothurin during dangerous situation.

Development indirect with auricularia and doliolaria larvae.
