• Scutigera is a house centipede, living in damp places.
• A small, black coloured, long – legged and agile centipede.
• Feed on small insects, not harmful for man.
• Body is dorsoventrally flattened with two divisions – Head and Trunk.
• Head bears 2 too long antennae.
• Near their base is a pair of sense organs, known as ‘Tomosvary organs’.
• Each compound eye is a compact structure of numerous Ocelli – detect only light and darkness.
• Trunk – lean, bears 15 pairs of long and fragile legs.
• Trunk is strengthened by a few large overlapping tergal plates.
