Frog : Pectoral girdle

• Pectoral girdle consist of two similar halves, united together ventrally and separate dorsally.

• Each half in turn has 2 portions: upper scapular portion and lower coracoid portion.

• Scapular portion consist of 2 elements – scapula and supra scapula.

• Scapula is a bone whereas supra scapula is a calcified cartilage.

• Coracoid portion consist of two bones, clavicle and coracoid.

• They are separated from each other by a space called coracoid fenestra.

• Clavicle and coracoid extend to the mid- ventral line and meet a median cartilage called epicoracoid.

• At their outer end, they meet the scapula. At this junction is a cup like cavity called “glenoid cavity”.
