Found in fresh water bodies and brackish water habitats.

Body – elongated and pear shaped.

Body divisible into Cephalothorax and abdomen.

Cephalic region – 6 segments,

Thorax – 7 segments

Abdomen – 3 segments.

In female, body has 3 regions – Cephalothorax, Metasome and Urosome.

Cephalothorax bears a median dorsal eye, ventral mouth and cephalic and thoracic appendages.

Abdomen is apodous, last abdominal segment bears a pair of plumose caudal style.

Female is larger than male.
