Metopidius indicus (Bronze winged jacana)

Bronze- winged jacana feeds on insects and other invertebrates picked from floating vegetation or water surfaces and also on seeds and shoots of water plants.

They have huge feet and claws which enables them to walk on floating vegetation in shallow lakes which is their preferred habitat.

They have a territorial sex role reversed system.

They are polyandrous and the female are larger and more brightly coloured than their mate counter parts.

The female compete with other females for harem of mates to incubate their clutches of eggs.

Each female’s territory encompasses 1-4 males and their individual territories.
