Request Time Away from Work in Dayforce AND email CXHolidayRequest@schuh.co.uk.
Your holiday allocation renews on 1st January. Holiday requests can only be made for dates that fall within the current calendar year.
Jaimie and Steph will, as always, work on a first come, first serve basis.
Please don’t book a holiday before you have the request authorised as the dates requested may not be available.
No holidays authorised after the cut-off date in November. (If you require this, please talk to Martin or MC).
Holidays of 3 weeks or more to be authorised by Martin or MC.
Please request CONTRACTED DAYS as your holiday dates.
Weekends either side of a holiday request are not guaranteed for FT staff and should be requested using the Availability function and a matching email sent to Jaimie & Steph.
Anything outside of contracted days will need to be completed through your Availability Requests through Dayforce and a matching email sent to Jaimie & Steph.
For PT staff only, you will be marked as N/A for any non-contract days between holidays, so please request the full time you need off in your request.
Please ensure you use all your holidays or they will unfortunately be lost.
If Christmas Day or New Years Day fall on a contracted day this will automatically be booked in at the start of the year for you (or when you start with us if you join CX mid-year). You do not need to request this but please remember this is included in your allocated holidays.
If Jaimie and Steph are only able to offer a partial booking of dates requested, they will reject the full request and ask you to resubmit the dates they can offer if you would like to book them in.
We require you to book the below as soon as you can;
1-2 week(s) Jan- April (to be booked by mid-February)
2 weeks May – August (to be booked by mid-June)
1 week September to cut off (to be booked by end September)
Birthday Holidays
You are all entitled to an extra day holiday for your birthday.
Birthday holidays should be booked at the start of the year (or as soon as you start if you are new to CX).
This should be requested via Dayforce using the Birthday Holiday option and also sent to CXHolidayRequest@schuh.co.uk as a separate request from other holidays.
If your Birthday falls on a contracted day, then you can request it and we will either authorise that exact date OR if we can’t accommodate that then we will come back to you with a date 7 days before or 7 days after your ACTUAL BIRTHDAY.
If your Birthday falls on a NON CONTRACT day please request through your Time Away from Work option on Dayforce for a contracted day that is either 7 days before or 7 days after your ACTUAL BIRTHDAY.
Changes to Operating Hours
At various points throughout the year there may be changes to our operating / opening hours. When it is quiet we may close earlier and when it is busy (particularly Black Friday and Christmas) we will extend our opening hours in order to meet customer demand.
If you are contracted for 4 hours on a Wednesday and you are not available until 4pm you will most likely be working a 4-8 shift. If you are contracted to 6.5 hours on a Saturday and our opening hours have extended to a 9-6 shift, you may be put in for an 8.30-3.30, 9-4, 10-5, 11-6 or any variation in between unless you have stated on your availability you are only available for specific hours on a particular day. The same applies to a Sunday. If you are contract 5.5 hours but we have extended to a 9-6 shift then you could be in for a 9-3, 10-4, 11-5, 12-6 unless specified otherwise. Some of you will have your shifts extended to work the full 9-6 shift.
When we reduce hours such as Christmas Eve, Boxing Day etc. if you are contract to 4 hours but normally work a 4-8, your shift will be pulled forward to earlier in the day unless you have advised in your availability of a specific time.
